Cassville-3 Wheaton-2
It took eight innings to get a decision Monday night, but after the dust had settled Casville beat in-county rival Wheaton 3-2. Outstanding Freshman Lindsey Turner shot a 1 out, 1-1 fastball in to right field to give Cassvile a runner in scoring position in the eighth and Senior, Brittney Gatley brought her home with an RBI single. Turner tore it up in her first ever varsity High School game. She went 2-4 at the dish with a double, an RBI, a stolen base and the game winning run. Despite her youth Turner was outstanding "I was pretty nervous at first, but I got into it after my first hit," said Turner. "She (Lindsey) is one of those players who comes into your program once in a blue moon," said Coach Tony Eagleburger, "She showed tonight that she deserves to be on the field with those upper-classman." Britney Vollenweider got the win on the pitching mound. Cassville never led in the game until the eighth tying the score at 1 in the fourth and then again at 2 in the seventh.

Game Notes
-Wind was blowing Northeast, into the stadium, at 15-25mph
-Vollenweider did not give up a lot of contact keeping the Lady Bulldogs hit-less until the fourth and only allowing three total hits. She did however, walk five.
-Abramovitz had not one, but two outfield assists on the day. The first came in the first inning when Salazar tried to catch #10 stealing third, but over threw the play #10 then tried to make it home, but Abramovitz backing up the play threw her out at home. Abramovitz second assist came in the fourth inning on a hit into left field.
-Forgey had a quick inning when she threw only eight pitches in the fifth inning, but Vollenweider would not be out-done as she needed only three pitches for Cassville to end the top of the sixth.
-Wheaton possibly could have won the game in seven. With one out and Cassville's Brittney Gatley at first Courtney Beagle hit a chopper to third base the ball was fielded cleanly, but a hesitation on which base to throw it to allowed both runners to reach safely. Forgey struck-out the next batter, but then allowed the tying run to score.
-Haley Goostree, does not exactly fit the regular catcher mold, but as the game went on fans could see why she was behind the plate for her team. Goostree was solid behind the plate for Wheaton allowing no passed balls and making some acrobatic plays and stops during the game.
